About Marti Elvebak, MFT

Marti has been devoted to personal growth and transformation, both personally and professionally, for more than two decades. As a seasoned clinician she integrates transformational psychotherapies, experiential healing methods, mindfulness practice, and the wisdom of the body in her work. She guides her clients through processes that elucidate deeply held beliefs and habits, shift old patterns and perspectives, and open up the heart and mind to embrace change.
Marti has continuously increased her knowledge and understanding of the mental health profession and the human spirit in order to better serve her clients. She has always been drawn to transpersonal and body-oriented somatic psychologies, and has studied spiritually-based Psychosynthesis and body-centered Hakomi techniques extensively. She is a Certified Hakomi Therapist, has experience using Sand Tray, and uses mindfulness and the body throughout her work.
While exploring emerging theories in mental health, Marti's life-long interest in the sciences led her to the field of neuroscience. Her neuroscience research led her in turn to Neurofeedback, also known as EEG Biofeedback, which is a technique that influences the nervous system directly by regulating brain waves. Because of the direct relationship between behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, and how the brain functions, Marti decided to utilize Neurofeedback techniques in her work with clients.
Marti's specializations include working with individual adults suffering from PTSD and other forms of trauma, working with adults who were abused as children, and working with individuals and couples to heal relationship problems. She has also helped clients overcome anxiety, depression, stress, addictions, grief and loss, and ADHD, as well as helping individuals awaken to their deep authentic inner self and improve the quality of their lives.
Marti holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and is a Marriage and Family Therapist, license #33295.
